Studio 7

Love Fresh focuses on health and well-being and how what we eat can have an impact on our day to day lives. It was an aim to provide a calming space where people can come relax and refresh from busy lifestyles or just simply do their mandatory shopping.
The collaboration of the two different uses of the space brings people with different agendas together, the market set up on Rose Street as seen in my exterior render is another initiative that aims at connecting the west end by opening markets on weekends to promote togetherness.
Throughout the design process, I wanted to create a space that had an aspect of fun that is also calming with a feeling of freshness, this has been accomplished through the soft, natural materials chosen.

My main design feature separates these spaces while also creating an aspect of fun without becoming too overwhelming. The feature is made from transparent acrylic and is suspended from the ceiling.

The insert extrudes past the building envelope and draws people in with an exaggerated main entrance that tunnels into a smaller entrance to the back of the store.  This helps it stand out as it is located down a quiet street and could easily be forgotten without this bold threshold.

This project was designed around a visual language which all started by finding something of urban context that related to my site. I ended up choosing a heritage terrazzo located on Hindley Street. I started by enlarging, overlapping and redrawing the terrazzo to bring out the main shapes.
